Electronic Payment of Filing Fees by Debtors’ Counsel

Thursday, April 16, 2026

In accordance with E.D. Tenn. LBRs 5005-4(d) and 5081-1, debtors’ counsel must pay filing fees electronically for each electronically filed bankruptcy case. Attorneys have until May 3, 2026, to adjust their intake processes and debtor communication to comply with the electronic payment requirement. Beginning May 4, 2026, any represented parties who attempt to pay a filing fee at the Office of the Clerk’s intake counter will be turned away with instructions to make filing fee payments through their attorney’s office. Additionally, any payments received by mail on or after May 4, 2026, will be returned to the debtor with instructions to make filing fee payments through their attorney’s office. Failure to comply with the Local Rules regarding electronic payment of filing fees may result in an order to show cause for non-compliance.
